New World is a university project where small groups of student were asked to design a new world defyning who are the inhabitants, how they live, how they communicate, how they learn, how they have sex etc...
In this case, after the glaciers melting due to global warming, water submerged earth and mankind started living in the water. Peoples who didn't pollute their environment and their seas survived and started to adapt to the new environment: They became a sort of sirens, able to communicate by emitting bubbles with different shapes, from those bubbles they developped a new alphabet.
